The National Irrigation Commission Limited, NIC, has resumed supply of irrigation services to sections of St. Catherine.
The NIC says the St. Catherine Health Department has given approval for the resumption of services that had been disrupted due to a reported oil spill in the Rio Cobre.
The commission had previously shut down its irrigation system, the Rio Cobre Irrigation System, due to potential risks to the water quality.
The National Environment and Planning Agency has served an Enforcement Notice on Trade Winds Citrus, the owners of the property from which oil reportedly found its way into the Rio Cobre.
